Basic Obedience Group Class - 8 week course

includes 12 months access to my popular Sunday socialisation class.

Get the best out of your dog using natural canine training methodology. This is a structured course of 8 weeks, where we focus on what the companion dog owner needs, to help ensure an obedient dog. Not only will you be learning new training techniques, I will also be including discussions on dog psychology and behaviour, to help you better understand your dog, ensuring you get the most out of your dogs training.

At the completion of the 8 week course you will have 12 months access to my popular Sunday group socialisation class to help you maintain and improve upon your dogs overall training.

Dates (I have 2 classes commencing, with more dates to be added soon)

Saturday 25 February 2012 through to 21 April 2012 - time 9:30am to 10:30am (closed saturday 7 Apr, Easter weekend )

Wednesday 29 February 2012 through to 18 April 2012 - time 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Location: Greenwith (map of location will be provided when you book)

Dog Age: 6 months and older (fully vaccinated)

Handler age: 16 and older (will allow 14 years and up if supervised directly by an adult during class)

Dogs per class: 8 to 10 to a class

Fee: $250.00 per dog, payable (cash or cheque) at commencement of first class, or EFT to bank account, at least 4 days before commencement of class.

Basic Course Content

• Basic leash walking
• Sit on command, and automatic sit
• Drop/Down on command
• Stay on command in both sit and drop (up to 10 metres)
• Recall from Stay
• Some street walking
• Overall better control of your dog
• Dog socialisation and distraction work
• Discussions and demonstrations on dog behaviour, psychology and drives, to help you better understand your dog and maximise training

After successful completion of the course, you will be issued the Council Dog Registration Rebate Certificate

You also receive 12 months access to my Sunday Socialisation Class after completing the basic group class to help maintain and improve upon, what your dog learned during the obedience course, and to move onto more advanced distraction work.

Equipment required

Collars:  Flat collar, correction chain, martingale or slip collar. Halti type collars will not be used.

Leash: Poly or webbing lead around 1.6 metres or longer. Chain leads are not acceptable for training

Treats: Dried Liver broken up into small pieces, or anything juicy that your dog enjoys.

Clothing - Under no circumstances will thongs or sandals be allowed. Shoes are a must.
